Vanessa Trump told followers on Friday that her recent medical tests showed no trace of breast cancer. The 48-year-old shared a short video on the Instagram account of her 19-year-old daughter, Kai, stating that the results "came back clear, so I'm finally cancer-free." For the public, the announcement marks the end of a six-month health scare that began with a diagnosis in April.
The diagnosis was made private in the spring but went public in May. At that time, Trump wrote on social media that she had already undergone surgery and was finalizing a treatment plan with her doctors. She is the mother of five children with Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump. The pair separated in 2018. Trump began dating professional golfer Tiger Woods last year.
Kai Trump wrote in the post caption that the short clip serves as a preview for a longer video scheduled for release on Saturday. In that upcoming feature, her mother and Dr. Nicole Saphier will discuss breast cancer awareness and prevention. Kai noted that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a period dedicated to early detection and support for patients.
The initial post quickly gained traction online, collecting more than 20,000 likes. Hundreds of users commented with messages of support. Among the well-wishers was American singer and media personality Mary Millben.
The American Cancer Society provides context on the disease's prevalence. It reports that the average risk for a US woman developing breast cancer is roughly 1 in 8, or 13%. The organization also states that breast cancer accounts for 30% of all new female cancers each year.
Medical experts note that surgery cures the majority of breast cancer cases. When residual disease remains, treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and endocrine therapy can reduce long-term risks. The field continues to see advancements, including more targeted therapies for early-stage disease, new hormonal options, and precise radiotherapy techniques.
The next scheduled item is the longer YouTube video featuring Trump, her daughter, and Dr. Saphier. That release is planned for Saturday.
