The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation has closed its search for private partners to build electric vehicle charging infrastructure at its Brooklyn campus.
The request for proposals, issued on May 30, 2025, asked for an operator to install and manage up to 30 charging stations. The plan included 20 spaces reserved for the yard’s tenants and 10 additional spots for public use. The operator would lease outdoor parking areas and handle all maintenance and management duties.
The site hosts more than 550 businesses and employs over 13,000 workers. This creates a large potential user base for the new charging services. The initiative aimed to serve both the industrial manufacturers inside the gated campus and visitors from outside. A July 2025 addendum allowed applicants to bid on the public-facing portion of the project independently if they chose.
The original submission deadline was August 14, 2025. As of the current date, the solicitation is listed as archived in New York City’s official procurement records. The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation stated in that addendum that it would consider proposals focused solely on the publicly accessible charging portion. Interested companies were directed to check the yard’s official contract opportunities page for any updates or new solicitations.
