Comedian Druski has signed a multiyear production deal with Netflix. The agreement centers on Collect & Praise, a new semi-scripted comedy series set to premiere on Dec. 1. The show follows a pastor and his deacon who prioritize financial gain over religious duty. Druski plays the money-hungry pastor, while Mike Epps portrays the deacon.
The series develops a character Druski previously created for short-form video. A sketch featuring the megachurch pastor was posted on TikTok on Jan. 12. That single clip accumulated more than 9 million likes. The platform's success served as the basis for the new streaming project.
Druski stated in a press release that his platform was built on characters that resonate with audiences. He said the partnership with Netflix provides the resources to build on that comedy foundation. Druski noted it is a tremendous opportunity for his team at 4LIFERS Entertainment to expand their reach and develop original programming.
Beyond the new series, Netflix will license content from Druski's existing catalog. This library includes Coulda Been Love, Coulda Been Daddy, and Coulda Been Records Auditions. The deal also covers his viral skits.
John Derderian, who oversees Next Gen Content at Netflix, said Druski has a gift for building characters that people cannot stop talking about. Derderian described Collect & Praise as just the beginning of the collaboration. He said the company welcomes Druski to Netflix.
The announcement comes before Druski makes history as a host for Saturday Night Live. He will appear on the show on Nov. 7. This booking will make him the first digital creator to host the program.
