For Israeli households holding savings, the political fight over currency just got personal. Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yashar party, launched a new campaign on Saturday that places 150 billion shekels at the center of the debate over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s financial contingency plans.

Eisenkot released a video on X/Twitter that frames the prime minister’s recent remarks as a confession of economic mismanagement. The clip opens with the assertion that all national money is at risk. It then cuts to footage from an earlier Channel 10 interview where Netanyahu stated Israel must prepare for an alternative economy due to international sanctions.

The core of the criticism focuses on the prime minister’s specific mention of blockchain technology. In the interview, Netanyahu acknowledged that digital finance would certainly form part of his strategy. He noted that he had already requested a plan for such a system. Eisenkot’s team coined the term Bibicoin for this proposal, arguing the move would destroy the country.

The campaign materials describe the potential outcome as resembling the economies of North Korea and Iran. The video claims this shift would mark the end of high-tech, healthcare, and security. It asks how global high-tech investors would place capital into Israeli firms if digital currency became the sole payment method.

In a separate post on the same platform, Eisenkot adopted a direct tone. He wrote that Netanyahu admits his policy leads to international isolation and sanctions that will shake the market. Eisenkot called this trajectory the collapse of national security. He urged the public not to let the prime minister burn through their savings.

The exchange highlights the tension between the government’s preparation for a sanctioned financial environment and the opposition’s fear of radical currency shifts. Eisenkot uses Netanyahu’s own words to argue that the backup plan is a primary strategy rather than a safety net.

The video and post have positioned the digital finance proposal as a central issue for the upcoming political season. Eisenkot’s team continues to use the Bibicoin label in its messaging to rally support against the government’s economic direction.
