OnePlus has begun distributing the stable version of Android 17 to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4. The update is currently rolling out in India, marking the first public deployment of the new software build.
This release occurred approximately one week ahead of the company's original timeline. OnePlus had initially planned to launch the first stable updates on October 29. The early start places the October 30 rollout for the next wave of devices in motion.
The update signifies the final retirement of OxygenOS. These two models are the first devices to transition entirely to ColorOS. OxygenOS, which evolved from a near-stock Android experience into a global variant of Oppo's ColorOS, is being phased out as part of a wider corporate restructuring.
OnePlus described the new software as a system that helps users turn ideas into finished work with AI. The company stated the goal is to reduce friction when moving between tasks and devices. Their marketing materials emphasize a concept where technology keeps up with the user naturally rather than requiring manual configuration.
In a statement, the company said, "ColorOS 17 is here, bringing a new wave of smarter experiences, smoother interactions, and more ways to make your phone work around you." They framed the update around the theme "Flow with AI, Flow Everywhere," aiming to make everyday interactions more fluid.
Other devices have been confirmed for the update, including previous generation flagships and several Nord models. The OnePlus 13 is scheduled to receive the update in the next wave on October 30. The rollout is expected to expand to other regions in the coming days, though specific dates for those markets have not been confirmed.
The software shift follows a period of operational changes for the brand. The OnePlus 15 and other recent models sold out in the United States after the company scaled back its global operations. OnePlus has also recently unveiled the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery.
The transition completes the integration of OnePlus's software ecosystem with Oppo's. Existing devices will continue to update to ColorOS, ensuring a unified user interface across the brand's remaining hardware lineup.
