The upcoming Founder Summit in Boston will center on the difficult choices facing startup leaders who must operate without complete information. Scheduled for November 4 at the SoWa Power Station, the full-day gathering is presented in partnership with Fidelity Private Shares. The agenda moves beyond standard topics like capital raising and artificial intelligence to address the core operational hurdles of building a business.
Sessions will tackle critical areas such as customer acquisition, team construction, and pitch refinement. Participants will also examine how to cultivate founder leadership and expand operations both within and beyond established startup hubs. The program emphasizes practical decision-making for companies in their formative stages.
Steve Fredette, who serves as president and co-founder of Toast, is slated for the Impact Stage. His talk, titled 'Building a Company That Keeps Reinventing Itself,' will explore how the firm has evolved from a local venture into a public entity. The discussion aims to highlight the balance between adapting to shifting market dynamics and maintaining the core value proposition that launched the business.
Investors will lead two sessions that examine the trade-off between aggressive expansion and cautious management. Kent Bennett of Bessemer Venture Partners will guide a conversation on identifying product market fit before increasing headcount or spending. Rudina Seseri of Glasswing Ventures will follow with a session on recognizing when to accelerate versus when to pause, helping leaders distinguish between growth opportunities and moments requiring restraint.
Lior Div, the CEO of 7AI, will address the strategic integration of new technology in a presentation called 'Built for AI From Day One.' This talk will contrast the approach of adding AI features to existing workflows with the method of designing an entire corporate structure and operating model around the technology from the start.
A distinct local theme runs through the event, highlighting the Boston ecosystem. Chase Garbarino of HqO will discuss the regional playbook for scaling a company, focusing on talent, capital, and community resources available outside of Silicon Valley. Together with the Toast segment, these talks underscore the viability of building ambitious enterprises within the city.
Pitching mechanics will also receive significant attention. Dave Balter of True Ventures and Edisyl will lead a session on making pitches compelling enough to secure further dialogue. A later afternoon activity will feature live presentations from founders before a panel of investors, including Chirag Shah of Define Ventures and Simran Suri of Maveron, allowing the audience to observe real-time feedback.
Additional speakers will cover distribution as a competitive edge, high-performing team structures, and identifying market leaders. Fidelity Private Shares will contribute sessions on fundraising trends and enterprise relationships. The day concludes with networking opportunities and a reception, with early registrants able to secure discounted or paired tickets.
