BYD is launching its most expensive vehicle in the United Arab Emirates before it arrives in China. The company confirmed that this ultra-luxury electric sedan will make its global debut in the Middle East. This move marks a significant strategic shift for the brand. No specific date has been announced for the public reveal yet.

The new car is positioned directly against the top tier of the luxury market. It targets established names like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Mercedes-Maybach. The vehicle is described as the largest and most opulent sedan BYD has ever built. This is a bold step for a company known for budget-friendly models like the Seagull. That small hatchback sells for under $10,000 in China.

BYD has expanded its product range dramatically in recent years. The lineup now includes entry-level EVs, large SUVs, pickups, and supercars. The brand operates through three sub-brands: Denza, FangChengBao, and Yangwang. The Yangwang division sits at the top of this hierarchy. It serves as a testing ground for the company’s most advanced engineering.

This new sedan will likely feature the latest in BYD’s technology stack. Previous Yangwang models used a quad-motor platform that produces 1,300 horsepower. They also included a body control system that allows vehicles to move in unique ways. Executive general manager Zheng Yu described the new car as having unprecedented disruptive technology. He did not provide specific technical details during his comments.

Recent spy shots and testing reports offer clues about the car’s capabilities. The vehicle was spotted at a station designed for megawatt charging. This suggests it will support ultra-fast charging speeds. The sedan also features rear-hinged coach doors for the first time in BYD history. Reports indicate it may be the first model to use solid-state batteries. BYD has stated its first such vehicle would debut in 2027.

The car is expected to officially appear this month. Rumors place the starting price at around 2 million yuan. This converts to approximately $300,000. This price point is significantly higher than current Yangwang models. The existing U7 sedan starts at $98,000. The U8L off-road SUV, the brand’s most expensive current car, starts at $217,000.

By launching this flagship in the UAE, BYD is signaling its ambition in the global luxury segment. The region is a key market for high-end automotive purchases. This debut will test whether the brand can command premium prices outside of China. The arrival of this sedan will reshape the competitive landscape for ultra-luxury EVs. Buyers will soon see how BYD’s top-tier technology compares to traditional luxury rivals.
