Miro Heiskanen recorded five shots on goal during Thursday night's matchup, but his final assist determined the outcome. The pass set up Roope Hintz for a one-on-one with the goaltender. Hintz scored at 3:47 of overtime to secure a 3-2 win for the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center.

The decisive play followed a defensive stop by Jason Robertson. Robertson blocked a Winnipeg scoring attempt that he had initially created through a turnover. Heiskanen immediately moved the puck to Hintz, who capitalized on the open ice to finish the sequence.

The Stars required a late surge to overcome an early deficit. Scottie Johnston opened the scoring for Winnipeg in the second period. Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor responded later in that frame to give the Jets a lead. Hintz tied the score with a six-on-five power play goal with two minutes remaining in regulation.

Dallas dominated possession but struggled to convert attempts. The Stars outshot the Jets 38-19. Connor Hellebuyert made 35 saves, forcing the home team to work for every goal. The defense limited Winnipeg opportunities but could not ensure that all Dallas shots resulted in goals.

Esa Lindell sat out the game, shifting the defensive workload to his partners. Heiskanen played 29 minutes and 20 seconds. Thomas Harley logged 28 minutes and 27 seconds. Lian Bichsel appeared for 17 minutes and 47 seconds. Nils Lundkvist, Tyler Myers, and Kyle Capobianco also spent time on the ice. The heavy minutes for the top pair reflected the absence of Lindell, though no return date was announced.

Heiskanen finished the night with one blocked shot in addition to his five attempts and the winning assist. Harley did not record a goal. The Stars relied on a single decisive finish to close out the game against the Jets.
