Prince George's County police confirmed two new shootings on Tuesday that have increased the weekly death toll to seven. The incidents occurred in Langley Park and a residential apartment complex, marking the latest in a violent stretch for the area.

In the first incident, officers responded to the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Langley Park just before 2 a.m. They discovered two young women with gunshot wounds. One teen died at the scene, while the second was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition. Detectives are currently searching for a suspect and do not believe the shooting was random.

A second shooting occurred around 12:25 p.m. at an apartment on the 1900 block of Belle Haven Drive. Police found a man with gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead on the scene. Investigators are working to identify suspects and determine the motive for this killing.

These two deaths bring the total number of people killed in the county since Oct. 27 to at least seven. The pace of violence has been intense, with four of those deaths occurring on Thursday, Oct. 29. This rapid accumulation of fatalities has drawn attention to the local crisis.

Chief George Nader addressed the toll in a news release earlier in the week. He stated, “We will never lose sight of the human cost of violence.” The chief added, “Even one murder is too many.”
