Sam Fender dismantled the most expensive tier of his upcoming stadium tour after fans revolted against a 130.75 pound price tag for front standing tickets at Wembley. The 32-year-old North Shields singer confirmed on Instagram that the top standing price would drop to 98.85 pounds, matching the cost of the standard standing zone he initially planned to keep.

The dispute began earlier this week when the musician announced the Proper Massive tour. Social media users quickly noticed the wide price disparity in the initial listings. Front standing seats were listed at 130.75 pounds, while general standing tickets cost 98.85 pounds. Seated options ranged from 64.75 pounds to 130.75 pounds. An Instagram user named Gavin Davis highlighted these figures, prompting a direct response from Fender.

Fender admitted the initial figures were not his final decision. He stated that the prices had been inflated beyond his original intentions and that any cost increase should strictly reflect staging expenses rather than profit margins for ticketing partners. He specifically criticized the division of standing areas into front and back tiers, describing the practice as bollocks and confirming it would not appear in his tour structure.

The pricing issue extended beyond London. Initial listings for other UK cities showed standing prices exceeding 100 pounds. Newcastle top tickets reached 112.90 pounds. Cardiff listed top tickets at 119 pounds. Manchester’s top price was 119.60 pounds. Edinburgh recorded the highest price point in the UK lineup at 120.95 pounds. Fender’s adjustment addresses the London venue specifically, though the overall structure aims to reduce the gap between zones.

Presale tickets for the tour open Wednesday morning, with general sales starting Friday. The tour will run across the summer of 2027. Venues include St James’s Park in Newcastle, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Marley Park in Dublin, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. The lineup features major stadiums designed to host large crowds, with the pricing changes intended to make attendance more accessible.

Fender joins a growing group of artists challenging live music costs. In August, Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson expressed similar concerns in a TikTok video. She agreed with fans that tickets for her Bangkok show were expensive and wanted greater involvement in pricing. Larsson noted that financial barriers prevented many people from attending her performances. Fender’s move mirrors this push for transparency and lower costs in the live music industry.

The tour announcement coincides with Fender’s confirmation that a fourth studio album is in production. He has not revealed the title or cover art for the project. This new work follows his 2025 album People Watching, which won the Mercury Prize. The singer has won five Brit awards and collaborated with Olivia Dean on the duet Rein Me In, which won the 2026 Brit award for song of the year. That collaboration spent 23 weeks at number one on the singles chart, becoming the longest-running number one single in British history.
