Rookie Joe Fagnano will start Thursday night's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley is out for the season with a turf toe injury. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter reported the news after tests confirmed the extent of the damage.
Huntley was already expected to miss the matchup. That leaves Fagnano, an undrafted rookie, to take the lead. He is currently dealing with an ankle injury sustained during Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills. Head Coach Jesse Minter confirmed Fagnano's starting role on Tuesday.
The injury complicates an already thin quarterback room. Starter Lamar Jackson is also battling a thumb injury that may keep him sidelined for the rest of the year. The Ravens added Kedon Slovis and Austin Reed to the roster this week for depth. Both players have had limited time to learn the offense.
Baltimore enters the game with a 4-4 record. The team is trying to end a three-game losing streak. It faces important contests ahead as it fights to stay in the AFC playoff race.
